and they have further confirmed that these units are "Lead
Free" and meet all the strict standards of Proposition
65.
Mr. Margulis from the Center for Environmental Health filled
the lawsuit and said the problem is largely confined to
models manufactured before the Consumer Product Safety Improvement
Act was put into effect, which sets strict limits on lead
levels in all products designed for use by children aged
12 and under. The federal limits on lead in children's products
are 90 ppm for painted surfaces and 300 ppm for all other
parts.
According to Attorney Jerry Brown, the lawsuit against bounce
house manufactures is intended to force bounce house companies
to stop using lead-containing vinyl; warn consumers; and
require party places and rental companies to post warnings.
Charles Margulis,
a spokesman for the Center for Environmental Health,
said he was
not saying that children should stop using the bounce
houses, but that they should wipe their hands and
faces afterward.
